Telegraph Brewing Company has produced a barleywine with rye malt.

It is called Rhinoceros. The Santa Barbara brewery did a fine job with this.

Aroma of hops, smooth, creamy texture as it coats the tongue, almost vanillish. nice foamy head. It finished with a bitter-sweetness that hangs on the palette. The rye malt makes it a unique taste. It’s big and bold since it is 9.8%. Keep it refrigerated as it will age well in the cold.

A big shout out to Eagle Rock Brewery, which had a standing-room only crowd of supporters for its City Hall hearing. The brewery’s permit was up for renewal. It is believed that they will get a permit that will last for four years before it needs to be renewed. No decision has been made yet, however ERB will be notified by a letter within about two months.
