Travels With Cap'n

In Search Of Bier

0 notes

Italy By Way Of Seal Beach, CA

Fellow travelers in search of bier, let me just say at times one does not need to leave there home port to experience that of another country’s. Case in point: on a recent Saturday afternoon, First Maat and Cap’n traveled to the beach community of Seal Beach, Ca. Realizing this is “Orange County” territory, we put our political differences aside. Sailing the 405 to the 57 to PCH, we wound up at Beachwood BBQ.

Food-wise let me say we both ordered the brisket sandwich. Now Cap’n has had many brisket sandwiches in his lifetime and this one was one of the best. Of course Cap’ns mom is at the top of the list. Nate and Al’s in Beverly Hills, Ca. is close to the top as well.

Now since this is a bierĀ  blog, let’s get right into it.

1) Super Baladin - Birteria La Baladin Brewery

8% Belgian Style Tripple.

Amber in colour, rose, banana keeps it mellow and a subtle taste of pear.

2) Pausa Cafe Tosta

Specialty ale 12%.

Nuts, caramel on the back-end. Dark brown in colour.

3) Al-Iksir

bierreria me baladin 10%

Demi-Sec piozzo Italy

almond flavour, mellow, smooth taste.

All in all it was a great experience tasting biers from Italy. A strong shout and hearty handshake to Beachwood BBQ of Seal Beach, Ca. Also to First Maat for his wonderful navigational abilities, even though the maps that he was using had combined to locations into one and that makes for a whole different tale.

Thanks for following this blog from its previous source and taking the time to read.

Until the next voyage.
